Before you jump into e-commerce or setting up your site with FastCart, please take a little bit of time to read through this site and the setup information. Doing so will save you time and effort and will help you begin trading sooner and more effectively.
Learning how FastCart works and planning your site for e-commerce will help you to set up your site more easily and help you to avoid common problems with e-commerce sites and shopping carts.
Remember - the easier you make it for your shoppers to buy from your site, the more likely they are to hand their money over.
FastCart is a remote shopping cart, often known as a "bolt on" or "hosted" shopping cart. FastCart runs on our web servers - there is no software to install on your server, no PHP / CGI / ASP scripting to learn. All you need to do is set up your FastCart account and your merchant account, then add BUY NOW or ADD TO CART links and buttons to your products pages. Instructions for creating and adding these links and buttons are provided in other pages in this section.
The shopping experience is simple and intuitive. When the shopper clicks a BUY NOW or ADD TO CART link or button, the product information is sent to the FastCart shopping cart. The shopper can then update product quantities, delete products from the shopping cart, return to the store and continue shopping or proceed through FastCart to your secure payment pages.
The easiest way to understand this is to experience it for yourself. Take a look at some of the sites on our showcase page, add products to the shopping cart and proceed through to the payment page.
Once you have products listed on your web site, all you need to do is add BUY NOW or ADD TO CART links or buttons to the products, plus VIEW CART and CHECKOUT links or buttons on each product page so that the shopper can return to the shopping cart and complete the purchase easily.
